Design

Display

When compared to the Surface Go 2’s 10.5-inch screen, which has a higher native resolution of 1,920 by 1,280 pixels and less density than that on an iPad (264ppi), it’s clear why this device would be more suited for reading purposes rather than graphics or video consumption.

Microsoft is on the fence about whether or not increasing your screen’s resolution will have an effect. They claim that if you look close enough, there won’t be any visible pixels at resolutions above 220ppi (pixels per inch). However, their own studies show otherwise, and even though they don’t know for sure what happens when someone looks through different levels of density; it’s possible some people may notice more strain placed upon them due to having greater amounts loaded onto each individual pixel instead.

The text on the Surface Go 2 appears grainy and low-resolution, while also being battery optimize. The iPad manages to include a higher resolution screen with excellent life expectancy too.

Signals from the Surface Go 2’s optional LTE modem can travel up to gigabit speeds. Perfomance

The Surface Go 2 takes a bit longer to install apps than it does on most tablets with more powerful processors, including Microsoft’s own laptop line. In order for you can use third-party software from the Windows Store though you’ll have an option in settings that will allow this when installing new programs or updating old ones via “S Mode”.

The tablet’s day-to-day working experience is enjoyable and free of sluggishness. The fact that it lacks a cooling fan means you can enjoy your work without hearing annoying noises coming from other laptops, which are common when they’re under heavy load too. While using the Surface Go 2, we caught that it would sometimes lag when switching between two already running apps.

This means that if you want to get the most out of your Surface Go 2, make sure it has a processor with at least 4 cores and 8 threads. The Pentium Gold chip in this model is slower than its 7th Generation counterpart so we recommend sticking with either an older “Amber Lake-Y” based CPU (such as what’s found on base models) or one newer than them both: Intel Core i5—or even better yet Apple A12 Bionic.

The Surface Go 2’s battery life is excellent for a compact tablet. When I used it on casual web browsing at home, the device had enough power to last through an entire day with 30% leftover.

Microsoft’s new Surface Go 2 may not be better than the iPad, but it trounces all other midrange Windows tablets and is an essential tool for working or learning from home. The small size makes it perfect to take with you on trips – whether their business trips were carrying bulky equipment would cause problems, family vacations wanting something lightweight that can still handle some rough handling (think: dropping), outdoor activities like camping which requires packing smartly so as much space isn’t taken up by the stuff we don’t use often.
